Indiana Jones didn't climb into the insect-filled depths of ancient South America for nothing. This week, you got a chance to reap the benefits of all his grave-looting, or at least you can pretend to like a lot of other people are. Max the Crystal Skull will be here in Fresno on Friday and Saturday this week, sharing wisdom to those who seek it. A cut-and-paste from the Internetz reveals more: "Max is an authentic ancient crystal skull; [sic] a wonder of the world estimated to be thousands of years old and considered by many, to be one of the rarest artifacts ever found on this planet. Max was discovered in Guatemala and was used by Mayan priests for healing, rituals, and prayers." Legend has it that Max is one of the 13 crystal skulls that will one day be brought back together for their collective wisdom to be made available to us. Sound familiar? -- It should, because actually Max's owner Joann Parks was interviewed by George Lucas about the Skull way back in 1996. So who knows, you might want to check this out, just to see the cool special effects if the other 12 skulls happen to show up. Not that Max needs George Lucas to help him get famous. He was featured on the Travel Channel on a show called "Top 10 Mysteries" and another show called "Strange Universe" and on the BBC. "This year with the Indiana Jones movie, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, we have had emails and calls from all over the US to come schedule an appointment and lecture with Max," Salo Stanley wrote. "We are even having people driving from Ohio to come see Max. How cool is that!" Stanley owns Salo Sounds, an audiotherapy studio in the Tower District. Stanley is hosting Joann Parks, who is offering private sittings to share some of Max's wisdom. The cost for sittings is $50 for 30 minutes, or $35 per person for a shared sitting, which also lasts 30 minutes. Joann and Max also will give a 90-minute lecture on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Spiritual Living Center (723 W Clinton Ave), which has a $25 entrance fee. (It will be held at the Fellowship hall and not the chapel.)
